The Prix Jeunesse NZ Youth Jury
Meet Our Jury
The Jury will convene in Auckland on the weekend of 22-23 March 2014 and will be responsible for viewing and selecting their winner for the Fiction/Non-Fiction television category (12 – 15 years) for the 2014 Prix Jeunesse Festival.
Saffron
I am 12 years old and have just started college in Wellington city.I have a 15 year old bother and a dog named Molly. I am involved in surf life saving, play the violin in a combined schools orchestra and am currently rehearsing as a chorus member for an Arts Festival opera. In my free time I love reading, baking and hanging out with my friends.
Fin
My name is Findlay McLachlan, but please, call me Fin. I am 13, born in Auckland and have lived most of my life here. My biggest achievements so far would have to be fulfilling my passion to act on screen and on stage, firstly with ATC’s musical theatre productions of ‘Oliver’ and ‘Poor Boy’ and then more recently have just finished filming a NZ movie ‘Orphans and Kingdoms’ which premieres here in July.
Priyanka
My name is Priyanka Malhotra. I am 15 years old and am currently living in Auckland. I am a student of Pakuranga College. My hobbies are reading, playing tennis and watching movies. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends and in the future, I want to be a doctor.
Britt
My name is Brittany, but I prefer to be called Britt. I’m 14 years old and my goal is to become a film director when I leave school. My dream is to meet Tim Burton and direct a movie with him.

Hi, my name is Katie Quirke. I live on a dairy farm in Raglan with my family. I attend school and board at Waikato diocesan School for girls where I am in my second year of high school(year 10 ). The things that I enjoy doing are shopping , netball , skiing , tennis , swimming , going on holidays and being around my friends and family.
Ruby
Kia ora, my name is Ruby Blake-Manson, I am 13 years old and attend Rangi Ruru Girls’ School in the stunning and resilient city of Christchurch. I love to play soccer, spend time with my friends and read. I am super excited to be a part of the Prix Jeunesse Jury, as I will get a glimpse of what others my age watch around the world and discover a little of their culture.

My name’s Phoebe Moir, I’m fourteen-years-old and I live in the country just outside Palmerston North with my parents, two brothers and a sister. I’m a Year 10 at Palmerston North Girls High School and I’m in the top class in my year. I enjoy dance, writing, reading, goats, flute and drama.
Kale
My name is Kale Richmond I am 14 years old I’m in the Rumaki reo at western springs college, I like media studies and really into filming. I play basketball for W.S.C and I do kapa haka for Nga oho o waiorea and I am also involved in at tv show on Maori TV called Swagger.

My Name is Jasper Matenga O’Kane, (AKA Jazz) I am 12.5 years old. I live in Auckland’s beautiful Waitakere
Ranges and attend Glen Eden Intermediate School. I have two awesome cats named Zeus and Ninja. My hobbies include working on my school’s ‘Cactus TV” Television Production team, performing in stage plays, competing in chess tournaments, and attending Motu Moana Scout Group. I also love hanging out with my friends, boogy boarding at Piha, watching movies and playing on my ipad!

The things I really love doing are watching movies and Tv shows, reading,art and listening to music. I basically love any form of expression and the ways different people can tell different stories.

My name is Janoschka (pronounced Ya- nush-ka) van Zyl . I am 14, I was born in South Africa but moved to New Zealand in 2008. I go to Pakuranga College in Auckland (Y10). My hobbies inculde swiming, surfing, snorkelling, reading, and baking. My proudest achievement so far would have to be coming second place in the Made Awards (which is a junior film and t.v competition) for an advertisment a couple of friends and I made.
